Welcome to Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to develop an understanding of compassion fatigue and burnout so you can confidently take steps to reduce these experiences and enjoy your career.

During this course you will learn what the research says about compassion fatigue and burnout. Learn techniques to reduce the experiences of compassion fatigue and burnout so you can enjoy your career.

The main course content is divided into 3 lessons making it easy to fit into your busy schedule. You don’t need to complete all the lessons at the same time or even on the same day. You must pass each of the quizzes to complete the lessons and earn 2.5 Learning Type CEUs.

The final lesson in the course is full of valuable resources and includes a survey so you can provide feedback, helping us to improve the courses we offer.

  • Be able to distinguish between Compassion Fatigue and Burn out
  • Understand Secondary Trauma and some preliminary causes
  • Be able to identify current research and limitations/recommendations for future exploration
  • Identify Private events that may indicate burnout
  • Identify Public events that may indicate burnout
  • Identify 2 causes to burn out
  • Identify antecedent skills and interventions to decrease intensity of burnout
  • Identify specific assessments to use to gather data on burnout
  • Identify specific next steps to address burnout for themselves or their supervises
